Cost of Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal is without a doubt a financial investment. But, this is an investment in YOU, and your future. Our society highly values our appearance, both in terms of personal and career success. Men and women spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars each year on items and services including clothing, shoes, hair and makeup, dental work, manicures and pedicures, and facials to name just a few. The commitment to removing unwanted hair is something that will stay with you day in and day out for a lifetime. Ultimately, we now live in a society that highly values smooth, hair-less skin. You owe it to yourself to achieve a clean, worry-free appearance for your own comfort and satisfaction.

Pricing is highly dependent on a number of factors. These factors include the area to be treated, the coarseness of the hair, the skin pigment, and the number of sessions required. You may receive a 20% discount if you choose to have two or more areas treated. There are additional discounts available for referrals, hosting of groups, etc.  Ask your Laser Hair Removal Specialist about these special offers.

How Do We Begin?

Clients receive an initial consultation in which the process of laser hair removal is explained, all questions are answered, and a price list is offered.  This visit may last up to one-half hour depending on your information needs. This consultation is discreet and is a chance for you to be open and completely honest with your needs. If you choose to move forward, we can begin the first session then and there.

How Are Sessions Scheduled?

Laser hair removal is a process. Most often the area to be treated must be lasered approximately 4-6 weeks apart for a total of roughly 6-10 sessions. The reason behind this protocol is that hair grows in three distinct cycles, and only the hair in the growth phase can be eliminated. All hair grows at varying stages, so multiple treatments are necessary. Hair that has been destroyed in the growth phase will generally shed between 8-12 days.

How do I Prepare for my Laser Procedure?

Extra pigment in the skin can negatively affect the success of laser hair removal by extending the length of treatments.  It is best to be at your lightest skin tone during the course of your sessions.

You should avoid deep tanning 2 weeks before, and 1 week after treatment.  An SPF of at least 45 or higher should be used in the treatment area if you must go into the sun.  Additionally, do not wax, bleach, or tweeze the area to be treated 4 weeks before treatment, and throughout your laser hair removal protocol.  If you are using any photosensitizing products, these must be discontinued at least 10 days prior to your procedure.  These products include, but are not limited to:

  • High dose antibiotics (such as a Z-Pac)
  • Alpha hydroxy (glycolic or lactic acid), or beta hydroxy peels
  • Hydroquinone/skin bleaching agents
  • Retinol products
  • Self-tanning products

We ask that you arrive to your treatment with no lotions, sprays, or creams in the treatment area.

The area to be treated should be shaved a day or two prior to the procedure.

What are the Side Effects of Laser Hair Removal?

There are very minimal side effects associated with laser hair removal as long as the provider is experienced with the technology.   These include temporary redness in the treatment area, slight swelling, itching or discomfort.  Most clients return to their daily activities immediately following the procedure.

Other side effects that a few clients experience may be bleeding or scabbing in the treated area.  This is often only an issue when the area is being over-treated, or the settings are too high, or if medications have effected the skin.  Always inform your specialist if you have experienced a change in your health or medication regimen.   Some clients may experience slight bruising. hyper- or hypo-pigmentation of the treated area especially in cases of deep tanning, and pupura, the appearance of small purplish spots under the skin as a result of bleeding under the skin.  These spots, like tiny bruises, are generally only temporary.

If you do experience a side-effect that concerns you, bring it to the attention of your Laser Specialist immediately.  Most often reassurance, ice packs, and a few days of healing time are all that is warranted.

Preventing Side Effects

Fully discuss your expectations with your Laser Specialist and provide a thorough and honest medical health history.  Follow the protocol listed above carefully.  Ask any and all questionsand concerns before, during, and after your treatment session.
